Q9650 4.5GHz (Stable)

After much voltage tweaking, I was able to get some good results from my Intel Q9650.  Run completed by ChaosRainz on 6-29-2009 using single loop water cooling. Great results using the Gigabyte UD3 series mainboards which are fantastic OCers for Core 2 Quads.  Validation Here.

Core i3, i5, and i7…

intel-core-2a

Bill Calder of Intel wrote Wednesday on his blog about how the new Core (aka Hero) naming scheme will work. In a nutshell we will have the three levels of Core processors; lower end i3, mainstream i5, and enthusiast i7.

Intel VP Deb Conrad also mentioned the Centrino brand is being phased out but Celeron and Pentium brand will be available for entry-level and basic computing. Finally, the older Core2Duo and Core2Quad brands will be retired as the new chips fill the market.

In a fortunate turn of events K|ngp|n, Andre, Jody, Gautum, Vapor, and the notorious Fugger are meeting up at (as of yet) an undisclosed location in Detroit Michigan. Fugger already stated he plans to break some World Records at 6GHz + speeds, but that’s not all. With all of these XS members being present we are sure to see blistering hot speeds and super cold chips. Chaos and I are very anxious to see these guys perform live on site! NewPants has not committed to the event but I think he’ll tag along too if he can.

In preparation for the event, Chaos is dusting off his video camera… Even though the BURR team has not officially been invited we’re keeping our fingers crossed so that we may record and share the event with all of the OC enthusiasts out there. So wish us luck and hit us back in the comments below!

Our team is accepting Engineering Samples from multiple vendors. In return we advertise the products we use whenever projects and tests are performed. Please contact us here to set up an arrangement. We prefer to review enthusiast level CPUs, Motherboards, RAM, and Video Cards. However, we will entertain the idea of testing other equipment should the oppertunity arise.

Our new website is a lot better than before. Thanks KO raisins! Time to OC

By the way we’re looking to test out some hardware. If you’re looking for a reviewer, contact one of us here, and we can make an arrangement. Our reviews will feature side by side comparisons with similar hardware, complete with graphs and other metrics.
